In loving memory of Mustang Sally…She will always be a part of this rescue’s life.

Our wonderful mare an original wild one from the west crossed over Tuesday night. She had endured a last winter and when the warm temperatures came she laid down in her stall and left this earth. What a difficult life this mare had endured as a captive for sale and then bought in Hearne, Texas at a BLM sale and left in a horse trailer as they had no fenced land for her for a very long time! Can you imagine the grief this mare suffered at the hand of humankind?

We have known Mustang Sally since 2004, when a horse lover found her and brought her to Spirit Acres to see if the mare could be rehabbed? It did happen, for this tough little American Horse pulled through all the tragedy to the best of her ability and because her lungs had been weakened from standing in the filth she did, fumes from urine and manure were the stuff that did this specific damage/scarring to Sally. So as she aged it became more difficult for her to get good strong breaths. But she managed and seemed to know her limits etc. Yes she was a smart mustang as well

She will always be a partofthis rescue’s life.

We will miss this pretty bay mare of pure American decent. You are a free spirit Sally as promised to all His Horses.

Mustang Sally came to see me Monday on back porch of our home, for a few minutes and then left. It had begun to warm a bit and by Tuesday evening Sally was ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge as we think of it here.

It's a boy!

We wish the best to all the family! Dam, Donna Alia Faydraffa, is 100%, rare "Donoghue" breeding. (Her sire and dam were actually bred by Gerald Donoghue of Goliad, Texas) Bottom dam line: Maaroufa. Dam's sire's bottom line: Roda. Sire's bottom line, double Roda. Sire lines: Raffles and Raseyn. Some Davenport sandwiched in-between. Mr. Donoghue loved the spark the Davenport added but he also loved the Old Egyptians.

Sire of foal: Ansata Sheikh Halim

Mr. Donoghue kept "Alia's" sire's maternal half brother, a stallion, for himself toward the end of his program. That particular stallion was sired by Serr Halim, a son of Ansata Ibn Halima out of a Babson mare. Being an Ansata, Sheikh Halim has quite a bit of Babson in his pedigree himself. Too bad I can't use my artist's skills and erase a bit of ear here, eh? ha. I'll try to get better photos later. He's an active fellow but of very nice disposition. Pretty calm and easy going but does let us know he is independent.

Farm Friends,

We were recently profiled on KBTX News!! Please visit the below link to see the story. Please feel free to share the link with your friends as the more exposure our farm needs get the more Farm Friends we can acquire and the more help for our rescue. Our goal is to grow so we can continue helping more horses in need!!

How You Can Help

When illness came and I was unable to be at the farm so many devoted people came forward to keep the quality of life going and take care of business at the largest and possibly oldest equine rescue in the area.

We are compiling names and hopefully we will add to the story soon, I want to thank you for your staunch loyalty to the farm and the kindness and generosity you share with the great need of the homeless and often discarded horses.

December 13 is the National Day of the Horse in America. Senator Ben Campbell R-Colo did this work it stands alone with nothing attached. A Simple resolution 452 (108th) in effect as of 11-18-2004. Any month would be good to have this day a part of, but we have December here in USA. A month filled with love and great focus on goodness and beauty.

We are proud to be listed on the Net Equestrian site under Rescue and Adoption Organizations in their directory! Visit and take a look at the other Rescue/Adoption Organizations who share the same vision we do!
